The artist’s idea
A connection to
the old Troy Laundry
Eleven video screens give this fixed aluminum sculpture its sense of movement.
Jim Blashfield drew part of the sculpture’s form from industrial equipment uncovered during demolition of the Troy Laundry. Its changing images and sound connect the site’s earlier history with the technology of present-day South Lake Union.
The work sits in Troy Block’s covered public walkway. The changing scenes reward return visits: each time someone passes through, they can see a different part of the work.
